The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The other night, I and a few of my closest friends finally saw the latest installment in “The Chronicles of Narnia” movie series, “The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.” This was one of my favorite books in the series, along with “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “The Magician’s Nephew” and I was anxious that they do a good job with the movie.

I loved the movie version of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” and “Prince Caspian” was pretty good but I think this one is the best so far. It wasn’t exactly like the book, but very few movies are, and I felt that the changes they made in the movie were congruous with Narnia and the books, even if it wasn’t identical.

The boy that played Eustace, did an excellent job. He is annoying and unlikable at the beginning and by the end he has grown and you love him and feel that he belongs in the story and in Narnia.

As always, I loved Lucy! For me, she is the shining point of each movie so far. They couldn’t have picked a better Lucy!

And of course the story is filled with adventure on the high seas, something I can never have too much of, while dealing with themes of temptation and the day to day struggle to do the right thing and Aslan is always there to help them through each struggle.
